I need records of personal experiences with anti-communist protesting during the the Cold War.

Personal experiences are recorded in "primary" documents like diaries, autobiographies and interviews. For your keyword search in Library Search, try different keyword combinations (starting with just 2 or 3 terms and then narrowing the search as needed. Your search might include terms like "Cold War," protests, anti-communist, "personal memories," interview, experiences, or autobiographies.

Limiting your search to documents published during the years 1946-1989 could be useful (on the search results page and under 'Research Type.'

You can also limit to news publications from the search results page by clicking on 'Newspaper Search'. Another way to refine the search is to select relevant 'Subjects' offered on the search results page.

Another useful resource for primary records might be the database Proquest Primary Sources. There is also a Primary Source Research guide with a list of databases and other resources with primary sources. (You can also find this on the library website under Help/Research Guides. From the Research Guides page find the Primary Source Research guide and navigate to the Research Tools page.)
