In the Library Catalog, enter the term “personal narratives” or “diaries” along with the time period or historical event you are interested in, to find a book in the library which is a primary source.
In the Databases by Subject page, choose History from the pull-down list and use a database which mentions “primary sources” as part of its content description. Good choices include the various History Online databases from Facts on File; American Journeys; Civil War Newspapers; Declassified Documents Reference System; New York Times Historical; and North American Slave Narratives.
