What is primary scholarly references? What would go under this category?

A primary scholarly reference is original research published as a journal article.   In the research cycle, the results of an experiment or investigation appears most immediately in a journal that can be read by colleagues and cited in future research.  Secondary research is usually research that is repeated or re-published in a book,  textbook, a review article, or a handbook. Your assignment is to find five articles with original research, not a book or review article.  You could use a database such as CINAHL, OVID Medline, PubMed, or Scopus.  Look for research involving data or original observations.
